Republican leadership finds itself in a precarious position that no one could have predicted.

And Rep. Kevin McCarthy is stunned more than anyone.
A small number of Republican representatives decided to reject House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) bid to become Speaker of the House.
The last time a vote for Speaker went to multiple ballots was in 1923 – exactly one hundred years ago – when Republicans refused to reelect Representative Frederick Huntington Gillett.
It took nine ballots for Gillett to get the votes needed to secure the speakership.
But the longest showdown for Speaker was in 1855 and lasted two full months with 133 rounds of votes before a victor emerged.
In the first two rounds of voting for Speaker on Tuesday, 19 Republicans voted for members than McCarthy with Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) winning both the second and third round despite not wanting the position and giving his own endorsement to McCarthy.
“I’ve been clear. I want to chair the Judiciary Committee,” Jordan told Breitbart News on Tuesday night.
On Wednesday, 20 Republicans voted for Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) on both the fourth, fifth and sixth ballots.
Former President Donald Trump put out a statement calling on all Republicans to vote for McCarthy.

“Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a GREAT JOB – JUST WATCH!” Trump concluded.
Appearing on MSNBC Tuesday night, Rep. Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) was sure to put her two cents in on the situation.
“I do not believe that Kevin McCarthy has the votes. I believe that a lot of the opposition to him is very personal. I believe his leadership style is incompatible with a lot of Republican members and certainly the Democratic Caucus,” she said.
“So the question is, is there anyone in their caucus that can build that consensus? If there isn’t, McCarthy’s team may have to come to the Democratic Party? And, if that’s the case, then what would that even look like. It’s rather unprecedented? Could it result in a potential coalition government?”
But on Wednesday speaking to the Daily Beast, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) put out the idea of a “unifying” candidate saying she “wouldn’t outright rule out” working with Republicans to resolve the speaker battle, but that “McCarthy would not be a unity candidate” and Democrats “would need more concessions than just things like committee ratios.”
“But, I mean, hey, if we could get some chairs,” she said.

The FBI’s response to a dangerous situation is completely scandalous.

You won’t believe how the FBI responded to a death threat against conservatives.
Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade, pro-life activists have received numerous death threats from the violent, pro-abort group Jane’s Revenge.
The group has claimed responsibility for several attacks on crisis pregnancy centers and pro-life organizations, including making threats to “shoot up” pro-lifers for helping women with unplanned pregnancies.
Students for Life Action (SFLAction) reported a death threat was left on the door of St. John Paul II Newman Center near the University of Nebraska-Omaha’s Scott Campus in early December.
The letter was addressed to Newman Center director Rev. Dan Andrews and warned, “If our right to abortion in Bellevue is taken away due to the attempt to pass an abortion ban and it gets passed we will shoot up your Newman Center with our new AR14 rifles. Sincerely, Jane’s Revenge.”
However, the FBI appears uninterested in the threat and told Fox News simply that its Omaha, Nebraska, branch was “aware of the incident and is in regular contact with local authorities.”
Jane’s Revenge has previously taken credit for vandalizing a crisis pregnancy center in Buffalo, New York, and setting fire to Wisconsin Family Action headquarters.
“Next time the infrastructure of the enslavers will not survive,” the group allegedly stated in a letter shared anonymously with an investigative reporter from a publication based in the Netherlands.
“Medical imperialism will not face a passive enemy. Wisconsin is the first flashpoint, but we are all over the US, and we will issue no further warnings.”
Fox News host Tucker Carlson blasted the FBI for their shocking apathy regarding the attacks.
“We didn’t used to have FBI raids on the basis of alleged misdemeanors in this country. Now we do if you vote the wrong way. But at the same time the FBI is all but ignoring violence committed against people who don’t vote for Joe Biden. In June, criminals fire-bombed a pro-life pregnancy center in Buffalo, a place called CompassCare Pregnancy Service,” Carlson said.
“The people that did this, the bombers, have not been caught. Why? Because the FBI has not even bothered to investigate a fire bombing.”
Rev. Jim Harden, president of CompassCare Pregnancy Services in Rochester, New York, noted the FBI is still treating the vandalism as isolated incidents.
“They did not list it on the FBI website as domestic terror,” he told CBN’s Faithwire.
“They listed as an isolated event, which is important because this is … national domestic terror.”
Jane’s Revenge has claimed responsibility for at least 18 arson and vandalism attacks on crisis pregnancy centers.
No arrests have been made.

Elon Musk has been vocal in his opinion that Dr. Anthony Fauci should be held legally liable for his actions.
“My pronouns are Prosecute/Fauci,” Musk tweeted in December.
Now Musk is promising to release files with information about Fauci personally.
“Hope you’re having a great day 1 2023!” Musk tweeted on New Year’s Day.
“One thing’s for sure, it won’t be boring.”
Juanita Broaddrick – the former nursing home administrator who alleged she was raped by Bill Clinton in 1978 – replied to Musk’s tweet, “Waiting….for #FauciFiles.”
Musk responded: “Later this week.”
Musk’s issues with Fauci appear to be his role in the “gain-of-function” research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and then pushing to shut down the theory that Covid had been leaked from the lab.
Last week Musk linked to a Newsweek article titled “Fauci Was ‘Untruthful’ to Congress About Wuhan Lab Research, New Documents Appear to Show.”
“The Newsweek story linked to a September 2021 article by the Intercept that found that the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, which is headed by Fauci, provided funds for so-called ‘gain-of-function research of concern,’” The New York Post reported.
Musk took aim at Fauci again the following day.
“New Twitter policy is to follow the science, which necessarily includes reasoned questioning of the science,” Musk said.
The Twitter CEO also responded to Professor Gad Saad who posted a video mocking Fauci for conveniently retiring just before Republicans were set to take over the House.
“Anyone who says that questioning them is questioning science itself cannot be regarded as a scientist,” Musk replied.
So far, the “Twitter files” have shown that the American government pushed Twitter to remove any Covid “disinformation” in order to control the narrative.
Free Press reporter David Zweig reported that the federal government “rigged” the Covid debate, “…by censoring info that was true but inconvenient to U.S. govt. policy … discrediting doctors and other experts who disagreed … and ordinary users.”
Zweig said he uncovered “countless instances of tweets labeled as ‘misleading’ or taken down entirely, sometimes triggering account suspensions, simply because they veered from CDC guidance or differed from establishment views.”
For a considerable amount of time, Twitter had banned even the mention of the Wuhan lab leak theory.

Despite the Supreme Court finally overturning Roe v. Wade, Democrats are scrambling to kill as many babies as possible.
And now Joe Biden is pushing one federal agency to perform abortions even though it violates established U.S. law.
While the Supreme Court’s decision to finally overturn Roe v. Wade allowed abortion to be illegal in some states, it’s still legal in others.
But one thing was true even before the Supreme Court’s decision – it is blatantly illegal for the Veterans Administration to perform abortions using taxpayer dollars.
And that has been the law since 1992.
That doesn’t phase Joe Biden and his comrades in the least.
In fact, President Biden has made it clear one of his top priorities is to write abortion rights into law.
Thankfully, because Republicans will (albeit narrowly) control the House of Representatives, Democrats likely won’t have enough votes to pass such legislation.
So the Biden administration is looking for other ways to make abortion more available.
And one of these ways has been through the Veterans Administration.
The Department of Veterans Affairs recently announced a new rule that allows abortion counseling and, in some cases, even abortion procedures for pregnant veterans and their beneficiaries.
It’s a move pro-life Republicans strongly oppose.
As Congressman Mike Bost (R-IL) recently said, “I believe that it is not only immoral, but it is also illegal.”
As part of their rule change, the V.A. is already providing abortions when the life or health of the mother is in danger or when the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest.
But Congressman Bost, the ranking member of the Veterans Affairs Committee, reiterated that the V.A. is not allowed to do this.
“Congress prohibited V.A. from providing abortions in 1992. Congress has never repealed that protection,” Bost said.
And other pro-life leaders point out this new rule isn’t even necessary.
The Human Coalition’s Chelsey Youman said, “Every single state law both before, during, and after Roe allows exceptions for medical emergencies. Women are able to obtain care as needed. We even at Human Coalition will refer clients with ectopic pregnancies and other dire situations straight to the ER for care, and so that portion of it is unnecessary.”
And there are more concerns as well.
“The portions of it that are really concerning are the fact that they’re forcing V.A. doctors to perform abortions. Sometimes in contexts that laws do not allow even in spite of their own conscience or religious beliefs or values,” Youman explained.
Youman also pointed out several attorney generals across the country are already pursuing legal challenges to the new V.A. rule.
Despite what most media outlets report, the fight over abortion did not end with the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.
In fact, many pro-life activists and leaders argue the fight is only beginning.
