Kamala Harris and Joe Biden know they can’t run for re-election on the back of their record in office.
So instead, Harris and Biden are resorting to the usual Democrat playbook of fear and smear.
But now Ron DeSantis humiliated Kamala Harris by stating one simple fact.
Kamala Harris traveled to the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority National Convention in Jacksonville, Florida, and spread the horrible lie that Ron DeSantis’s administration proposed new educational standards teaching children slavery was a good thing because some slaves learned trades they later used to make a career.
“And speaking of our children, extremists pass book bans to prevent them from learning our true history — book bans in this year of our Lord 2023. And while they do this, check it out, they push forward revisionist history. Just yesterday, in the State of Florida, they decided middle school students will be taught that enslaved people benefited from slavery,” Harris raged.
DeSantis responded in Utah by shooting down this despicable smear telling reporters students in Florida will learn history as it happened and not as woke activists brainwash children into believing.
“I think that they’re probably going to show some of the folks that eventually parlayed being a blacksmith into doing things later in life. But the reality is, all of that is rooted in whatever is factual,” DeSantis stated, defending this new history course as having “the most robust standards in African American history” in the country.
The National Review’s Charles C.W. Cooke blasted Harris for telling an appalling lie.
In a column on NationalReview.com Cooke went through the new Florida history curriculum and noted it listed 191 items and mentioned the word “slave” 96 times, “slaves” 45 times, and “slavery” 23 times.
Every single mention of the experience of slavery in America detailed the horrors of the evil institution save the one mention that some slaves did learn a trade they later used in life after winning their freedom.
“There is simply no way of perusing this course and concluding that it ‘gaslights’ people or whitewashes slavery. Among many, many other things, it includes sections on ‘the conditions for Africans during their passage to America’; ‘the living conditions of slaves in British North American colonies, the Caribbean, Central America and South America, including infant mortality rates’; ‘the harsh conditions and their consequences on British American plantations (e.g., undernourishment, climate conditions, infant and child mortality rates of the enslaved vs. the free)’; ‘the harsh conditions in the Caribbean plantations (i.e., poor nutrition, rigorous labor, disease)’; ‘how the South tried to prevent slaves from escaping and their efforts to end the Underground Railroad’; the ‘overwhelming death rates’ caused by the practice; the many ways in which ‘Africans resisted slavery’; ‘the ramifications of prejudice, racism and stereotyping on individual freedoms’; and ‘the struggles faced by African American women in the 19th century as it relates to issues of suffrage, business and access to education,’” Cooke wrote.
This is an old standby for the Democrats.
But what stands out is how early in the campaign Democrats are reaching for the race card to scare voters into turning out.
In 2012, Joe Biden lied about Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan wanting to impose slavery on black Americans when Biden falsely claimed, “they want to put y’all back in chains.”
But that happened in the heat of the campaign.
The 2024 election is 16 months out and Biden and Harris are already so desperate that they are resorting to the standard Democrat Party election year lies about Republicans being racists who support slavery.
