Poll shows Fox News lost massive viewers after firing Tucker Carlson

by x82hPEs

This is the Fox News nightmare scenario coming to life.

Management thought they could avoid the catastrophe.

Tucker Carlson will be grinning from ear to ear when he sees this shocking new poll.

Every metric shows ratings are down at Fox News after the network fired Tucker Carlson.

The latest ratings report for May 11 showed only two programs — “The Five” and “Jesse Watters Primetime” — drew over two million viewers.

At one point Fox News finished in last place in the age 25-54 demographic — the critical group of viewers that networks use to set charge rates for commercials — in Carlson’s old time slot.

Fox News tried three different fill-in hosts – Brian Kilmeade, Lawrence Jones, and Kayleigh McEnany – and all three flopped attracting less than half of Carlson’s audience.

Polling data quantifies just how many viewers tuned out of Fox News in response to firing Tucker Carlson.

An Economist/YouGov survey showed 26 percent of Americans are watching less Fox News programming since management handed Carlson his walking papers.

Breitbart reports:

The survey asked respondents to indicate how much they have watched Fox News since the former prime time host’s departure and found more than one-quarter, 26 percent, indicating that they watch Fox News “less often” since the network announced it parted ways with Carlson. Sixty percent said they watch Fox News “about the same,” and 14 percent said they watch it “more often.”

The percentage of Republicans who watch Fox News less often now is even greater than the overall total, as 36 percent said they watch the network less often in the wake of Carlson’s absence. Twenty-six percent of independents said the same.

Fox News survived previous big-name hosts like Bill O’Reilly and Megyn Kelly leaving.

But there were big differences between their departures and Carlson’s.

O’Reilly left under a cloud of scandal and Kelly jumped to NBC after a feud with Trump.

By contrast, Fox News fired Carlson without giving any public explanation at a time when Carlson was still the most popular host on the network.

Whereas Fox News viewers could rationalize Kelly and O’Reilly leaving as problem children leaving, there was no such ill will felt towards Carlson.

Many Fox News viewers suspect Fox caved to the left and fired Carlson in the face of advertiser boycotts spurred by left-wing activist groups as well as the Dominion defamation case settlement.

Fox News Chairman Rupert Murdoch is open about his desire to see any Republican other than Donald Trump win the nomination.

Against that backdrop many conservatives worry Fox News Channel is turning into a Never Trump bulwark.

And they are refusing to watch the channel anymore.
