Ron DeSantis Promises Florida ‘Will Not Assist’ in Trump Extradition

Democrats’ witch hunt against Donald Trump just received a major blow.

They aren’t going to receive key assistance they had been counting on.

Ron DeSantis just took a bold stand to defy Donald Trump’s indictment.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said his state “will not assist” with any extradition request by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg after former President Donald Trump was indicted Thursday.

“The weaponization of the legal system to advance a political agenda turns the rule of law on its head,” DeSantis tweeted Thursday. “It is un-American.”

“The Soros-backed Manhattan District Attorney has consistently bent the law to downgrade felonies and to excuse criminal misconduct,” he continued. “Yet, now he is stretching the law to target a political opponent.”

“Florida will not assist in an extradition request given the questionable circumstances at issue with this Soros-backed Manhattan prosecutor and his political agenda.”

This made the left go wild with rage.

The Los Angeles Times ran an opinion piece titled “Ron DeSantis’ response to Trump’s indictment is a frightening new low even for him.”

Journalist Nicholas Goldberg claimed DeSantis’ statement was a “threat to the rule of law we haven’t yet seen” and leading America towards “civil war.”

However it doesn’t appear an extradition will happen.

Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina said during an interview on ABC News on Friday morning that Trump will turn himself in to New York law enforcement officials this week.

“This is unprecedented in this country’s history. I don’t know what to expect other than an arraignment,” he said. “I understand they’re going to be closing off blocks around the courthouse, shutting down the courthouse. You know, we’ll go in there and we’ll proceed to see a judge at some point, plead not guilty, start talking about filing motions, which we will do immediately and very aggressively regarding the legal viability of this case.”

Tacopina said he expects prosecutors to “try to get every ounce of publicity they can out of this thing.”

“The president will not be put in handcuffs,” he added. “As far as a mugshot’s concerned, perp walk, I mean, you know, as I said, I’m sure they’ll try to make sure they get some joy out of this by parading him.”

“But, you know, I think this is a different situation,” he continued. “It is a lot of groups involved here and I don’t think they’re going to allow this to become a circus, as much as humanly possible.”
