The anger and vitriol on the left towards the Supreme Court reached a boiling point.
Liberals look like they went way over the line.
And a Supreme Court justice’s life is in danger because of this criminal leak.
Justice Samuel Alito authored the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization opinion that overturned the 49-year wrong of Roe v. Wade.
Americans got a sneak peek at the Dobbs draft opinion because a leaker released to POLITICO weeks before the Court made the decision official.
This leak was an unprecedented attack on the norms and general collegiality between the justices that govern the Court.
That all went out the window with the Dobbs leak.
Justice Alito told the Wall Street Journal that the leak “created an atmosphere of suspicion and distrust. We worked through it, and last year we got our work done. This year, I think, we’re trying to get back to normal operations as much as we can. … But it was damaging.”
Chief Justice John Roberts announced a leak investigation headed by the marshal of the Supreme Court.
That probe went nowhere although Justice Alito did not fault the marshal.
Justice Alito said the marshal of the Supreme Court “did a good job with the resources that were available to her,” adding that he was certain he knew who the leaker was but that his information was not solid enough to go public with their name.
“I personally have a pretty good idea who is responsible, but that’s different from the level of proof that is needed to name somebody,” Justice Alito revealed.
The circumstances surrounding the leak investigation helped buttress Justice Alito’s claim that the leaker was a Liberal justice or clerk in the hopes of bullying the justices into reversing their decision and keeping Roe in place.
“It was a part of an effort to prevent the Dobbs draft…from becoming the decision of the court. And that’s how it was used for those six weeks by people on the outside—as part of the campaign to try to intimidate the court,” Justice Alito told the Journal.
When a 21-year-old member of the Air National Guard leaked documents about the war in Ukraine that embarrassed Joe Biden, The New York Times and Washington Post led the manhunt to identify the leaker.
But because journalists overwhelmingly support abortion on demand the press never reported on the leaker and helped keep their identity secret.
Justice Alito says because of the leak his life is in danger and he now travels in what is effectively a tank and with full-time security.
The leak also led to liberal militias violating federal and state law by stalking the justices at their homes.
One of these Joe Biden supporters even tried to assassinate Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
“Those of us who were thought to be in the majority, thought to have approved my draft opinion, were really targets of assassination,” Justice Alito added. “It was rational for people to believe that they might be able to stop the decision in Dobbs by killing one of us.”
The liberal media tried to throw everyone off the tracks of the leaker’s identity by claiming a conservative could have leaked the draft Dobbs opinion to force the conservatives to keep to their original opinion.
Justice Alito mocked this speculation as absurd pointing out that would mean one of the conservatives on the Court purposefully put their life — and their colleagues’ lives — in jeopardy.
“That’s infuriating to me,” Justice Alito concluded. “Look, this made us targets of assassination. Would I do that to myself? Would the five of us have done that to ourselves? It’s quite implausible.”
