Fox News just fired their most popular host without warning.
They’re losing their biggest primetime star.
In a shocking act of self-destruction, Tucker Carlson has been ousted by Fox News.
Without warning, Fox News announced Monday afternoon that the network is parting ways with host Tucker Carlson.
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways,” Fox said in a statement. “We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
“Mr. Carlson’s last program was Friday April 21st. Fox News Tonight will air live at 8 PM/ET starting this evening as an interim show helmed by rotating FOX News personalities until a new host is named.”
The decision to fire Tucker Carlson reportedly came straight from Rupert Murdoch.
“Fox News announced the stunning departure of its top-rated host Monday with no explanation, but people familiar with the situation who were not authorized to comment publicly said the decision to fire Carlson came straight from Fox Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch with input from board members and other Fox Corp. executives,” reported The Seattle Times.
The global news company, Semafor, reported that Carlson hadn’t been informed of his termination until just Monday morning.
A “person close to Fox leadership” told Semafor: “This is just classic Murdoch assassination—you’re their closest friend, their favorite child and now you’re dead.”
Citing “a person familiar with the company’s thinking,” the Washington Post claimed “it was Carlson’s comments about Fox management, as revealed in the Dominion case, that played a role in his departure.”
“Do the executives understand how much credibility and trust we’ve lost with our audience?” Carlson had said in a message to a colleague the day after Fox called the election for Joe Biden.
In another message Carlson said, “Those f—s are destroying our credibility.” He later wrote: “A combination of incompetent liberals and top leadership with too much pride to back down is what’s happening.”
Christian Ziegler, Chair of the Republican Party of Florida, suggested Carlson launch his own news network “immediately,” deeming him the “single most important and effective voice in news.”
“Let the pro-Freedom Champions rally and join him on the network,” Ziegler said.
Last year, “Tucker Carlson Tonight” averaged 3.32 million viewers – which was not only the highest audience in cable news, but also included the highest viewers between the ages 25 to 54 – a coveted demographic among advertisers.
Mediaite reported in 2022, “Carlson [was] the number-one watched host among Democrats in the key 25-54 age demographic – across all networks” in the month of October.
