Fox News just made a major legal settlement.
Then a major change took place.
And Fox News just got rid of this big-name host and no one saw it coming.
Dan Bongino is a former member of Barack Obama’s Secret Service detail and one of the most popular figures in all of conservative media.
Bongino hosts one of the most listened-to podcasts in America and hosted two shows on Fox News Channel — “Unfiltered” and “Canceled in the USA.”
But Bongino just announced bombshell news that his run on Fox News is coming to an end as his contract expired and the two could not come to terms on a new deal.
“Folks, regretfully, last week was my last show on Fox News on the Fox News Channel,” Bongino stated. “So the show ending last week was tough. And I want you to know it’s not some big conspiracy. I promise you. There’s not, there’s no acrimony. This wasn’t some, like, WWE brawl that happened. We just couldn’t come to terms on an extension. And that’s really it.”
Fox News put out a statement thanking Bongino for his ten-year run with the network and wishing him all the best in the future.
“We thank Dan for his contributions and wish him success in his future endeavors,” Fox News Channel’s statement read.
Bongino — who was one of the more prominent pro-Trump hosts on Fox News — did not want anyone to think his departure was linked to Fox News paying Dominion Voting Systems a $787 million settlement for false claims about its voting machines rigging the 2020 election and added that the decision to leave was his.
“I really enjoyed myself there and you know they were good to me for ten years. I mean they allowed me to do a show called ‘Unfiltered,’ did what we wanted to do over there and covered the topics we wanted to cover. And it’s a sad day. It’s a sad day,” Bongino added. “They did give me the opportunity to do one last show. I don’t want you to think they like, showed me the door, that’s on me, not on them. But I just thought it was best to kind of go this way for now. Like I said, it’s not acrimonious. I have a great team over there.”
But many expect more changes at Fox News in the near future because of the Dominion settlement.
CEO Suzanne Scott and hosts Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro — two of the hosts specifically named in the Dominion lawsuit — could be on the chopping block as scapegoats for Fox News Channel’s troubles.
