Intelligence officials who gave false information to the public may be in serious trouble.
A dozen intelligence veterans have been put on notice.
Jim Jordan is turning up the heat on the intel experts who misled Americans about the Hunter Biden laptop scandal just before the 2022 midterms.
51 former intelligence officials cast doubt on the New York Post’s bombshell Hunter Biden laptop story in a public statement by claiming the laptop had “the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
The statement was used by the mainstream media to delegitimize the scandalous contents found on the laptop, even though the intel admitted there was no actual “evidence” of Russian involvement.
Douglas Wise, a former Defense Intelligence Agency deputy director, even told The Australian, “all of us figured that a significant portion of that content [on the laptop] had to be real.”
And now that the laptop is acknowledged as authentic by even the mainstream media – and with Republicans back in control of the House, they are investigating the intel officials involved in the statement.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Michael Turner (R-OH) sent letters to the 12 intel officials, taking them to task for their “public statement signed in October 2020 that falsely implied the New York Post’s reporting about Hunter Biden was the product of Russian disinformation.”
Former CIA Director John Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper are also required to comply with the committee’s requests.
“The Judiciary Committee made prior requests to you for documents and information about the public statement you signed in October 2020 that falsely implied the New York Post’s reporting about Hunter Biden was the product of Russian disinformation. These requests, to include a request for a transcribed interview before the Committees, remain outstanding. These documents and your testimony are necessary to further our oversight. As we begin the 118th Congress, we write again to reiterate our outstanding requests and ask that you immediately comply in full.”
Jordan and Turner had previously asked officials to “identify all people with whom you communicated about the inception, drafting, editing, signing, publishing, or promotion of the ‘Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails’ dated October 19, 2020” and “produce all documents and communications referring or relating to the ‘Public Statement on the Hunter Biden Emails.’”
There was no mention in the letters of subpoenaing the ex-intel officials, however a subpoena could be obtained if the requested information is not provided.
